This article started out being called SACRIFICES.
It was going to be a list of things I had “given up” to lose weight and stay that way. But then as I though it through I realised there was little I had actually given up. Then the article became “substitutes” but I realised some things I had really just given up or some things I had brain washed myself to not like any more so once again it came down to CHOICES.
So it went a bit like this:
I gave up cheese…but I didn’t really…I don’t eat anything with cheese in a restaurant…but I still eat LITE cheese at home….very rarely but whenever I want…..I also love lite Jarlsberg which I eat on crackers as a snack.
Junk food except that if I want hot chips, hot dogs, hamburgers or pizza…I know I can get healthy versions of these in the supermarket
Beer…well they even have low carb beer but really, give it the toss…it is extra calories you don’t need – CHOICES
Lollies – well I weaned myself off them….slowly…these days I have jelly lollies occasionally but not very often…
Sweets after a meal (dessert)…I do NOT know how I did that, but I reckon I told myself often enough that I don’t eat sweets or cakes or dessert that somehow somewhere I believed it. I have slivers when I want but these days generally say “I don’t do dessert”.
I have just realized the list could go on forever……these are the PERMANENT changes I have made to me, my mind and my life…changes that are slow and gradual that add up to not being obese for seven years and pretty much staying that way.
So next time you contemplate your CHOICES………….realise they are NOT sacrifices because gaining a healthy body is worth so much more than any food you can eat……
It is what you CHOOSE to eat, do, think and be that will make you the way you ARE!!!!!
Say right now I CHOOSE A HEALTHY BODY!!!!!!!
